Just another teenage girl
Looking out into the night,
She has her friends and home and school
But something isn't right.
Her parents have tried everything
Psycologists to seers,
But a constant diagnosis
'She's wise beyond her years.'
She puts her face on every day
To help her make it through,
To understand the other kids
When all they say is untrue.
Hre mother lives in constant fear
Of getting the fateful call,
And when it rings, her father answers,
After 'Hello', they lose it all.
Together, holding hands they walk,
Towards her bedroom door,
On opening it, they see the letter,
Discarded on the floor.
'I'm sorry,' it began, 'It had to end,
Before anything had begun,
And that I had to go this way,
With battle's left unwon.
But relief is here for me,
I'm now stuck in constant dread,
It's not you it's me Mum,
and Dad, I am not dead.
I'll always be here with you,
I would never lie,
And now I've found my way Mum,
and Dad I say goodbye.'
And now her parents see it
They realise they are blind,
They take away the fire
And ee the ashes left behind.
They see their daughters thinking
Her reason and her rhyme,
The feel her awkward feelings
And see how she'd passed the time.
A smile isn't everything,
When it's a grimace full of pain.
A book is not its cover,
Just as life is not a game.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit... Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.
